Terms of use
Clappy is early software delivered over text. It is free, it will sometimes be wrong or unavailable, and it is a tool for thinking about videos rather than a guarantee that any video will do well.
1. The agreement
Texting Clappy means you accept these terms. If you do not, do not text it - and if you already have, text DELETE ME and everything goes.
2. What Clappy does
You forward links to short-form videos. Clappy analyses them and texts back a read on why they worked and how you might adapt them. It also builds a picture of your taste over time so those reads get more specific. That is the entire service.
3. What Clappy is not
- It does not publish, schedule, or post anything anywhere. It never acts as you on any platform.
- It does not make videos.
- It is not a promise of results. Advice about content is a judgement call, and following it may not work.
- It is not a dashboard, and there is no web app to log into.
4. Your account is your phone number
Whoever controls the number controls the account, because there is no other credential. Keep your device locked, and tell us if you change numbers so we are not talking to somebody else about your work.
5. Fair use
You agree not to:
- Send links to content that is illegal where you are, or that sexualises minors.
- Use Clappy to harass anyone, including by analysing content to target a person.
- Try to extract our prompts or resell the output as your own analytics product. Using the advice in your own work is exactly the point; reselling the service is not.
- Automate high-volume traffic against the number.
We may stop replying to an account that does these things.
6. Third-party content
The videos you forward belong to the people who made them. Clappy analyses publicly available content to describe how it works, which is commentary. We do not host, store, or redistribute anyone’s video - the file is deleted once the analysis is done. If you are a creator and want your work excluded from analysis, reply to Clappy and tell us.
7. Your content and what we do with it
What you send stays yours. You give us permission to process it in order to run the service for you - analysing it, storing the analysis, and using it to improve your own future replies. We do not claim ownership of anything you send and we do not use your material to serve other users.
8. AI output
Replies are generated by language models. They can be confidently wrong, misread a video, or invent a detail. Treat what Clappy says as one opinion from something that has watched a lot of short-form, not as fact. Check anything you plan to act on.
9. Availability
There is no uptime commitment. This is early software; it will be down sometimes, and message delivery depends on carriers and platforms we do not control.
10. Cost
Clappy is free right now and there is no billing of any kind. Your carrier may charge you for messages - that is between you and them. If we ever charge for anything, you will be told before it happens, not after.
11. Ending it
Text STOP and the messages end. Text DELETE ME and the account and its data are erased. We may end an account that breaks section 5, and we may discontinue the service - if we shut down, we will say so over text first.
12. Liability
The service is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost revenue or lost audience arising from following Clappy’s advice. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
13. Changes
We will text you before these terms change in a way that matters. Continuing to use Clappy after that means accepting the new version.
